Dr. Anna Kurek-Górecka, PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences – a pharmacist and specialist in pharmaceutical pharmacy, academic lecturer, and research and teaching staff member at the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Medical University of Silesia in Katowice. Her research interests focus on the antioxidant and immunomodulatory properties of bee products, the potential use of propolis in dentistry, and the application of bee products in therapy, as well as in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. Her scientific work is centered on the practical aspects of utilizing bee products in therapy and nutrition. Dr. Kurek-Górecka collaborates with researchers from various scientific institutions on the development of bee product applications in pharmaceutical technology. She has been a speaker, and a member of organizing and scientific committees at numerous international apitherapy conferences. She is actively involved in preparing publications and book chapters on the use of bee products. Additionally, she serves as a corresponding member of the Scientific Committee of Apimondia and co-edits the journal APIS. Dr. Kurek-Górecka also collaborates with various apitherapy societies worldwide. In 2024, she was awarded the Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland and the Honorary Badge for Merits in Agriculture.
Agnieszka Węglińska holds a Master of Science in Textile Architecture and is a graduate of the Lodz University of Technology. She is also a certified midwife and a graduate of the Medical School in Lodz. Currently, she is pursuing studies in Nursing at the Higher School of Health Sciences in Bydgoszcz. Additionally, she graduated from the Beekeeping Technical School in Sulejów. She co-organized the first Apitherapy Course in Poland, led by Dr. S. Stangaciu from Romania. She has been involved in beekeeping for over 5 years. As a passionate advocate of apitherapy, she owns a special bee air therapy house. Her interests focus on wound care, pressure ulcers, and the use of apitherapy in healing processes. She also expresses her fascination with the world of bees through art, creating paintings inspired by bees' perception of colors in a series titled "Through the Eyes of a Bee."
Radoslaw Balwierz is a pharmacist and doctor of pharmaceutical sciences. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy and Ecological Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, University of Opole. Additionally, he is a member of the Presidium of the Opole Regional Pharmaceutical Chamber and the Board of the Opole Pharmaceutical Society. The author's scientific interests are focused on dermal drug forms and the use of natural products as permeation enhancers, as well as the use of nanoparticles in dermatological formulations. He is interested in herbal medicine, and pharmaceutical care. He has authored numerous national and international scientific publications, courses, and presentations at conferences. Additionally, he served as the scientific editor of the textbook 'Pharmacotherapy: When Food Matters - Drug-Food Interactions in the Practice of Dietetics.' His initial foray into the scientific study of apitherapy commenced in 2018 with the publication of his inaugural article on the subject, which focused on the therapeutic properties of bee pollen.
Beekeeping and falconry are his main interests. Apitherapy, as a form of natural medicine, has been part of his beekeeping journey from the very beginning. His primary passion is the study of propolis and its active compounds, as well as promoting apitherapy as a complementary method to pharmacological treatments for various conditions.
